FKB was founded in 1975 by Aaron Fine, Arthur Kaplan, and Allen Black. They created a small, collegial firm of outstanding lawyers whose intellects and litigation skills were second to none. Fifty years on, those founding principles endure.

FKB has represented both plaintiffs and defendants. In In re Urethane Antitrust Litigation, the firm represented the plaintiffs and won one of the largest price-fixing jury verdicts in U.S. history. In In re Generic Pharmaceuticals Pricing Antitrust Litigation, the firm is lead counsel for the plaintiffs in one of the largest antitrust litigations ever undertaken.
The firm also defended Southwest Airlines in In re Domestic Airline Travel Antitrust Litigation against allegations of a conspiracy to limit capacity, successfully negotiating Southwest’s early exit from the litigation.

Record-breaking Antitrust Jury Verdict
FKB was lead counsel for the plaintiffs in In re Urethane Antitrust Litigation, a price-fixing class action against chemical manufacturers. After a four-week trial, the jury returned a verdict for the plaintiffs that resulted in a $1.06 billion judgment—one of the largest price-fixing verdicts ever.

FKB is lead counsel in In re Generic Pharmaceuticals Pricing Antitrust Litigation, which alleges that dozens of manufacturers fixed prices for nearly 200 generic drugs. $1.5 Billion Settlement for Consumers
FKB chaired the plaintiffs’ settlement committee in In re Philips Recalled CPAP, Bi-Level PAP, and Mechanical Ventilator Products Litigation, which involved defective foam in sleep-apnea machines and ventilators. The case settled for over $1.5 billion for the benefit of individuals who overpaid or were injured.
